Decision guidance:
decisions that hold up day to day

A decision has been made. Now many smaller ones follow that depend on it. I guide you in making sure they fit together, that assumptions are reviewed when the situation changes, and that it stays clear who decides what.

What gets implemented here

Not a project plan, but a chain of decisions. The big pivotal decision brings follow-up decisions with it: budgets, roles, timing, exits. If this chain isn’t built deliberately, the original decision gets rolled back piece by piece in day-to-day work, without anyone deciding to do so.

Thresholds and triggers

How do you recognize that an assumption no longer holds? We define in advance which signals call for a new decision, instead of negotiating it when things get serious.

Sequences

What needs to be decided first, what can wait, what can’t be decided yet? The order becomes a tool, not a matter of chance.

Clear decision boundaries

Who decides what, within what scope, and when does it go back to senior management? That way, responsibility stays where it can be carried.

How you can tell it’s working

  • The decision that was made isn’t quietly reopened.
  • Follow-up decisions are made faster because the framework is clear.
  • Changes of course happen deliberately, at points agreed in advance.
  • Less ends up with executive management, and the right things still do.

As a project or ongoing

As a project

For the period after a specific pivotal decision: until the follow-up decisions are built and the framework holds.

Ongoing

As a sparring partner for senior management, at regular intervals and at the agreed thresholds: an outside view before things get expensive.

I don’t take over decisions or operational project work. I make sure that your decisions are still made deliberately after the formal resolution.

Decision Architecture

The path in three stages

Before that: the initial conversation. Clarity on whether to continue, and with what.
